Whitening Toothpastes

Whitening toothpastes are just one of the many teeth whitening products to choose from. They are different than most other whitening wares in that they do not contain a bleaching agent; there is no hydrogen peroxide. Instead, in its place, are abrasive materials. These materials physically "sand" your teeth so that any discolouring particles, in theory, are scrubbed away. In actuality, this only goes so far, and most users with dark teeth will not get the results they like from whitening toothpaste alone.

Controversy

Many individuals question the potency of whitening toothpaste over regular toothpaste; regular fluoride toothpaste, after all, contains abrasive materials as well, since that's how they clean. There is a problem if excessive abrading material is used: it can lead to sensitive teeth and gums. But, some whitening toothpastes contain baking soda, which has been shown to have some effectiveness.

Baking soda

Baking soda is an excellent abrasive material; it is more effective than most others found in toothpastes, although not substantially. However, for whitening teeth, one does not need baking soda toothpaste. It is easy to put baking soda in a bowl and mix it with hydrogen peroxide; this homemade toothpaste is arguably one of the best teeth whitening methods. When using this method, you should be careful with your gums; too much hydrogen peroxide can be harmful to the gums and cause sensitivity.

Rembrandt

Rembrandt is a brand of toothpaste which can be bought over the counter. It is whitening toothpaste, so it contains abrasive materials, but this toothpaste is one of the least abrasive whitening toothpastes available, so it is recommended for users with sensitive teeth or gums.

Pearl White

Pearl White toothpaste is given out by many dentists or other providers who perform laser teeth whitening. It is to be used on a dry toothbrush on dry teeth; consumers should dry their gums and teeth off with a paper towel or cotton ball to ensure dryness. Then, consumers should brush for one minute on only the front of the top and bottom teeth, they should brush only the teeth in the front of the mouth.

It is ordinarily recommended to spend one minute on the top and one minute on the bottom sets of teeth. After brushing, consumers should rinse out with warm water, and then they should brush their teeth as normal with regular fluoride toothpaste. Pearl White has special abrasive materials not found in most over the counter whitening toothpastes, and it is much more effective; it often provides much better, sometimes immediate, results.

Whitening toothpaste is a great thing, but it will not whiten your teeth substantially on its own. Users seeking a significant colour change should whiten their teeth first by other methods and then use whitening toothpaste as a way of helping maintain the whiteness.
